Native Omaha Days Organizing Committee
The Native Omaha Days Organizing Committee plans, coordinates, executes and hosts the bi-enniial Native Omaha Days Festival and other community celebrations. This Committtee was formed in 2017 and is comprised of OEDC, Empowerment Network, Native Omahan Club, Omaha NAACP, Omaha Police Department, Great Plains Black History Museum, Hallins Corp., and dozens of other community partners. The 25th biennial Native Omaha Days Festival is one such activity that will take place Monday, July 26, 2023 through Monday, August 2, 2023.
Celebrated for more than 40 years, people come from across the United States and beyond to participate in a long list of events throughout the week. It is a time to reminisce about the contributions African Americans have made to the economic, political and social life in the City of Omaha. The Organizing Committee is making preparations for the 2023 Festival.
The purpose of the Native Omaha Days Organizing Committee is to “Honor our African-American Culture, History, People and serve as a catalyst for the ongoing revitalization of North Omaha.” Its mission: “Native Omaha Days Festival is a week long, international and cultural celebration and reunion, bringing Native Omahans and friends together for fun, food, music and the revitalization of North Omaha”. Celebrated by many, Native Omaha Days Festival shows the deep ties that bind the City of Omaha’s African American community.
